I have downloaded and will probably try the new Microsoft Windows 7 BETA operating system. First I would like to know what current users think. Are there known issues?

My daughter got a new laptop for Christmas. She has been using an older computer that has been using the Windows 98 operating system. She wants to move all of her music and document files from the older Windows 98 computer to her new laptop with Windows Vista. Does anyone know how she can do that?

I am thinking of buying an older home and most of the windows are pretty small (I like lots of natural light). Before buying I am trying to figure out how much it would cost to replace some of the smaller windows in the living room and kitchen with bigger windows, probably to make them about 5 feet tall by 3 feet wide (or whatever is a standard size close to this). Secondly how much it would cost to add windows where currently none exist and thirdly to add a glass patio door where none currently exists. I would be able to take out the old windows myself but would need to pay someone to intall them all which adds the most cost I am sure. I live in Wisconsin. I know there are a million other factors to consider but I guess I am just looking for an estimate, such as $400/window or $2,000/window or what?

I just bought a very old city colonial with new replacement windows. However, they look very boxy and uninteresting. There aren’t any grooves in the window to insert decorative lines. Do you have any other suggestions on putting lines on new windows to give it a colonial feel? Thanks so much!

Hi there - I am thinking about getting new windows and siding. I have regular wood but would like to get fiber cement (Hardie) and new windows. However, it’s November and I think that it might be cheaper now (because not much work gets done this time of year) but I live in the North where the days are about 12 hours long now and the night are below freezing.

Any suggestions? Of course the siders and installers say they work year round, but wondering if there will be any potential problems with doing windows and hardie in probably late November by now. Thanks.
