I want to switch to the Linux OS from the Windows OS whenever I build my new computer. What is a version of linux that has really good graphics like Windows Vista or MacOSx. Prefferably one of the free linux distributions.

I recently damaged my laptop hard drive. When I start my computer, it will run fine, but will not load Windows Vista. I bought a new hard drive (same make/model). Now the computer turns on fine, but it says no operating system is present. Is there a way to load Vista on my new computer?

My daughter got a new laptop for Christmas. She has been using an older computer that has been using the Windows 98 operating system. She wants to move all of her music and document files from the older Windows 98 computer to her new laptop with Windows Vista. Does anyone know how she can do that?

Since every computer manufacture puts unique features into a computer how does the installation of a new operating system, such as Vista, keep any programs unique to the computer? Does installation of a new system actually delete everything and then install from the CD or does it save and restore modules required by the computer hardware? Is there some sort of standard? I have a Toshiba laptop. Are there program modules written by Toshiba on the computer that must stay?
An example. Toshiba has its own power module that replaces the XP power module.
Since most people are dummies they have no idea that a computer may or may not require manufacture modules. What happens when they go to Costco and buy the operating system and just follow the instructions? Will their computer fail? How do you get the required modules if the computer does not work? This is why I **** to upgrade. Is it better to just wait and buy a new computer?

Can you run 3 Windows XP on one computer?

I have 2 older computers and would like to transfer it’s operating system and hard drive to my new computer which has 4GB of RAM, and a Terabyte of storage.

If not, are there any other way to “get rid” of my old computer without losing it’s operating system and it’s hard drive contents?
